FAQ
FAQ: Things to know before you buy
Here are the most common questions people ask before shipping personal items.
What can I ship?
Best for personal items like clothes, kitchenware, electronics, home décor, bedding, and similar household essentials, as well as medical equipment and equipment for work, sports, musical performances, etc.
What are the container dimensions?
Container dimensions vary. Consult Micro-Bot for recommendations on the best size container for the items you're shipping.
Is there value protection during shipping?
Each shipment includes $1,000 of value protection with a $100 deductible—if you require more protection you can purchase additional Value Protection here.
What does the price include?
Includes: container fulfillment (shipping you the empty container), pickup (of packed container), shipping to destination, tracking, and value protection.
What can cause additional fees?
Common triggers: prohibited/restricted contents, commercial goods, overweight containers, or battery limits (if applicable). Redeliveries, missed deliveries, returns to origin due to denied delivery or no one to sign for delivery, changing delivery address while shipment is still in transport. Plus, expedited label requests or expedited pick-ups. Also, weekend requests for pick-up or specific deliveries will trigger higher fees.
What paperwork is required?
Usually a packing list + shipping label. International shipments may require a passport copy and destination-specific documents.
Why do I see two different addresses in the process?
Micro-Ship happens in two stages. First, we deliver your empty containers to your Receiving Empty Crate Address (where you pack). After packing, you’ll log ini and enter your final shipping destination and schedule pickup for shipment.
Do I need an account, and will I come back later to schedule shipment?
Yes. Creating an account lets you return after packing to enter final destination details, generate labels, and select a pickup date. Most customers visit the site twice: once to order containers, and again to ship once packed.
Can I reuse my container, and what’s the benefit?
Yes—containers are designed to be reused. Reusing them can reduce packaging waste, support sustainability goals, and make repeat shipments simpler (store the container flat or keep it for storage until your next move). Reusing creates a discount.
What if something is damaged or missing—how do claims work?
If an item arrives damaged or is missing, notify us as soon as possible through the claims form and keep the container, packaging, and contents available. Take photos of the container and items, and retain your tracking details. We’ll guide you through the claims steps, required documentation, and the typical review timeline.
